SMS Consent
Effective Date: September 28, 2026
Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church ("Divine Shepherd," "DSLC," "we,"
"us," or "our") uses SMS/text messaging to communicate with
individuals who have affirmatively consented to receive text messages
from us.
This page describes how SMS consent is obtained and documented.
How Individuals Opt In
Before Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church sends SMS messages to an
individual, the individual must affirmatively consent to receive text
messages at the mobile telephone number they provide.
Providing a mobile telephone number to Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church
by itself does not constitute consent to receive SMS messages.
Consent may be obtained through one of the following methods:
Electronic Opt-In: The individual completes an electronic form
containing an SMS consent option and affirmatively selects the option
to receive text messages.
Written Opt-In:
The individual completes a written form containing SMS
consent language and affirmatively indicates their consent.
In-Person or Verbal Opt-In: A Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church staff
member or authorized representative explains the SMS messaging program
and asks the individual to affirmatively consent to receiving SMS
messages.
No SMS messages are sent until consent has been obtained.
Verbal/In-Person Opt-In Procedure
When consent is obtained verbally or in person, the following consent
language is provided:
"Would you like to receive text messages from Divine Shepherd Lutheran
Church at the mobile number you provided? Messages may include
scheduling, reminders, church and ministry communications, safety or
facility notifications, and other church-related communications.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP
to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not
required to participate in church programs or services."
The individual must affirmatively respond yes before being enrolled to
receive SMS messages.
A staff member or authorized representative then records the consent.

Records of consent are maintained by Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church
for administrative and compliance purposes.
Types of Messages
Individuals who opt in may receive messages concerning:
Church and ministry communications;
Event information and scheduling;
Volunteer scheduling and reminders;
Facility and operational communications;
Safety, security, weather, or emergency-related notifications;
Preschool, childcare, or program-related communications, when applicable; and
Other communications related to the individual's involvement with
Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Message frequency varies based upon the individual's relationship with
Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church and the programs or activities in
which they participate.
Message and data rates may apply.
Opting Out
Recipients may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP.
After receiving an opt-out request, Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church
will discontinue SMS communications through the applicable messaging
program. A confirmation message may be sent acknowledging the opt-out.
An individual who has opted out must affirmatively opt in again before
SMS messaging resumes.

Recipients may reply HELP for assistance or contact Divine Shepherd

Privacy
Mobile information and SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared
with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional
purposes.
Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church may use service providers as necessary
to provide SMS messaging and related technology services. Such
providers may only use information as necessary to provide services on
our behalf.
